Am i right in thinking that I shouldn't let Angel up and down the stairs until she is 6months old? It's just doing my head in carrying her up and down cuz she sleeps in our bedroom!

I do not let any of my dogs climb stairs untill they are at least 18 months old as it puts pressure on the bones that are soft and can damage the hips, as from comeing back down the weight is thrown on to the front shoulder and legs again causeing problems,is it large breed that you have,I am maybe over protective some may say 12 month

My advice to my puppy people is always to keep them away form stairs until they are at least a coule of inches taller than each rise (roughly speaking).  One of my pups fell backwards and broke her neck  on a flight of stairs.  Even though her new family had put a baby gate on, she slipped through and followed hernew daddy upstairs, and couldnt make it.  It was tragic, and traumatic for the family and me.

I carried my lab up the stairs until she was around 18 months, and now she is 11.5 and I have to do it again lol as she is three legged and has just had cruciate operation in december and cannot manage stairs phew she weighs a ton but its worth it :O)
