Hiya all!
Sorry to bother you with another Recall problem but I have to moan!
Angel has gone backwards! She has steadily got worse and worse and more and more deaf! Grrrrr.
Anyone have any tips for good treats to entice her with? Im not much of a cook but I was thinkin I could just try Ham or something? Also, if I get her a special toy what should I get cuz I cant decide if it shouls squeak or not? I want her to respond to my voice, not a sueaky toy but thought it might be good for attention grabbing?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Jo and Angel

What i would do is have her on a flexi when out walking over fields or places where a long lead is acceptable. She will have the freedom to roam but cant run off. Then when shes at the end of the lead call her back, if she doesn't respond pull her back in gently repeating your command, most dogs automactically come back if they feel a slight jerk on the lead. Give her a treat once shes at your feet and lots of praise. It works for me

hi

the best treat is puffed jerky there's a post on it in the feeding forum, what has worked for me is having a special toy just for walks in our case its a ball on a rope well in fact 2 so that when she has one i still have another to entice her with, start by having a really exciting game with it at home and give it a simple name when she begins to recognise the name try getting out on your walks when she needs distracting but never let her have it at home from them on, it sounds crazy but i had a very hyper boxer who was off like a rocket while on walks, and now i only have to mention our magic word and she's by my side waiting for the game, the trick is to convince the dog that your far more interesting and exciting than anything else on a walk!

Hi
I had so many issues with my BC not coming to me when I called her, when I saw another website that had lots of info on recall etc they advised that whatever signal you have given before to say for her to come to you change it. If they haven't learnt so far with it then it won't ever work. So I did. My BC is not treat orientated so I just called her name (loudly and happily) and clapped 4 times and opened my arms wide to welcome her, and for 2 weeks she has come to me everytime!!!!!, when she does I give her lots of praise and cuddles, then say 'go' and she loves it!!

Might not work for you, but maybe worth a try

HTH

How old is your dog?
- By AngelBaby [gb] Date 25.02.04 17:47 UTC
She's just a baby. 15 weeks old.
I took her out today and she scared the **** out of me! We've walked in these spot loadsa times but today she managed to squeeze under a fence. Luckily she came back when i called her and i managed to get her collar and drag her back under. I am NEVER letting her off lead here again. I cant believe I'm so stupid to have never noticed this before!!

You can't see and do everything, don't beat yourself up; I know it's hard but not everythingis within your control as a dog owner. I know it's hard.

Have a drink and keep calm

What a good girl she was to come back when you called her! :) I hope you gave her loads and loads of praise, then let her play again? :)

Yer i walked her on lead away from the spot and then let her off again to play. I nearly didnt but then I thought that was nasty cuz she did come back and its my fault i'm not small enough to squeeze under there with her! LOL.
The toys seem to be working better than the treats btw
