We were at Ardingly on Sunday waiting to go into the show ring when we were approached by a man asking us if we had seen a white pug as it had just bitten another dog and they wanted to find out whose dog it was so that they could send the vets bill to that person.
Fifteen minutes later the same guy returned and said that someone had picked our friends dog out as the offender. Now much to our surprise she is a jet black brindle STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER and how any one can confuse a WHITE PUG and a BLACK S.B.T is beyond me. Last time I looked there was no such thing a white pug.
We tried to get the show manager to sort the situation out but he didn't really seem interested in getting involved so I approached the secretary who advised me to 'just have a good day and forget about it'. On the way back to the ring one of the guys with a pointer made a comment under his breath which I asked him to repeat and he said that he was only talking to white people and that I should run along! My blood at this stage was boiling and I almost did swing for him but decided that he wasn't really worth it.
The show manager then approached me and said that I could make a complaint to the KC but surely they can't do anything about racism at a show and it it is would be almost impossible to do anything as the guy who was abusive wasn't showing a dog and wouldn't give me his address or phone number.
It has seriously put me off showing dogs at non-breed shows.

If the prat wasn't showing it's not really fair to blame the sort of show. Unfortunately you get ignorant bigots everywhere - breed shows as well as general. :(

At all shows there must be an incident book and you can make a complaint against anyone who is in danger of bringing the dog world into disrepute. You will have to lay down your £35 and it is a long and laborious process which, IMHO, benefits noone; however dog shows are not immune from the harassment and racism laws in this country and so you can make an official complaint to the police if you so wish. Each time someone is allowed to get away with unacceptable behaviour reinforces their attitude.

please don't be put off, we are not all idiots, and i would be more than glad to stand and have a natter with you if we were ever at a show together.
keep on going and hold your head high, he was the one that embarrased himself and his friends, you did not embarrase your self you had dignity,
just smile sweetly next time you meet the a*** ole and watch him explode , no one will of seen what you did by smiling at him, but he will get noticed by the shouting and reaction he gives you , and you will look the innocent party.
i know done this myself.
have fun and keep showing
Carol

Some people are like that! But they are in the minority, don't give the pointer bloke the satisfaction of not seeing you at shows. Many people I am sure are very friendly towards you and to be honest I think this bloke is pafetic and should keep his opinions to himself but he didn't but don't let it hurt you to badly.
I know Racist people are around but you can't do anything about it. Keep Having fun with your SBT at ALL shows, no-one is worth stopping your hobby (assuming it is a hobby!!!) for.

ignorant swine :( - dont let it get to you, or then he's won, !!!! most people are ok , keep going, ignore it,
Sounds like they don't know what they were talking about or just trying to stir trouble!
I mean there's a number of bull breeds that can be white such as Frenchies, Bulldogs, Bull Terriers
yes SBT and theres others such as Lhasa's etc but they are hairy. But I must admit haven't seen a white pug...
There just are some ignorant and very rude people about and unfortunately it was your day to bump
into one of those people.
It happens at all shows to certain degrees though, not normally racism but where some people have got
out of the wrong side of bed that morning and you get aload of abuse or agression from them.
I've bumped into a few of those...
I know this happened to a girl I know who was judging, she was sworn at from the ringside!
As much as we can all disagree with the placings some days, it's that judge's decision on the day.
Don't know why people don't just hold their tongues and have a good moan on the way home in the car
or in the canteen with friends over a cup of tea/coffee or fizzy drink.
(Which is what I do some times :) )
As much as it's hard to do just ignore the ignoramus and don't give them any ammo to wind you up.
It's a bit like school, don't show that the bullies have got to you and they will eventually stop.
I'm not condoning what the rude chap did though! Totally out of order!
Don't give them the satisfaction of stopping you showing there's plenty of good, honest friendly folk out there
that will/can restore your good faith in the 'all-breed' showing fraternity!

I was at Ardingly on Sunday and I am just sorry I didn't hear the fool. We all know these morons are about, usually this "chest beating" behaviour is a sign of inferiority! If you get the chance come and talk to us TM owners, we are all slightly mad but nice with it! With an attitude like his the chances are you will be welcome at shows for a lot longer than he is.

> >>>he said that he was only talking to white people<<<< the problem he more than likely had was though "white people" weren't talking to him with him talking cr*p like that...at least I wouldn't:)
Don't let him bother you; Karen :)

Don't let it put you off showing, unfortunately all walks of life have pillocks like this. Maybe one day I'll see you at a show, I'd better start entering some as I didn't go to many last year.
