Hi Everyone ,i am still looking for a dog for my MIL ,i am at the moment following suggestions on here to look at Breed Rescue, does anyone have any idea what i would expect to pay ?the reason i ask is that two breeds we have enquired to vary dramatically ,also what about ex show dogs,i know prices vary greatly from breed to breed ,does that make a differance when rescueing ? Bye Sue & Lola xx

Why not look at things the other way around, find a dog you like and pay the going price.

I know that when we were looking into rescuing a boxer we were told that we would be looking at spending approx £150-£200 as a donation.

Hi Charanda ,thanks we have been asked to donate between £50 to almost £400! ,most of the general recues ask for about £100 approx these usually include vac's ,microchipping ,& neutering ,my mil is an oap and while she is able to look after a dog ,feed it ,insure it etc ,an immediate outlay of almost £400 was more than she could afford ,she is very low at the moment still missing Lucky very much ,but at the same time wanting to have another companion ,i did not think it would be so hard to find a dog for her ! We paid £ 60 for Morse as he was a big pup - small dogs and pups cost £55. This included a weeks supply of food, a pamphlet by Gwen Bailey and a 25% discount voucher for neutering. When he got kennel cough 4 days later, they wheeled him off to the vet and treated the cough free, also returning him to our home and showing us how to give the tablets. The staff have always been there to support us and I think the cost of the dog reflects the running costs of the rescue centre - and we bought the collar and lead from their shop for £7 as per their rules
