Hello,
I have a German Shepherd Dog, 3yrs old. I recently moved away from home, temporarily as part of my job, leaving my dog with the rest of my family.
I come home every weekend to spend time with him.
The problem is that when I leave, he somtimes becomes quiet, leaves the rest of the family and stays on his own. Recently, this behaviour has become more aggressive and when I leave he has shown aggression to only one family member by growling and snapping.
This behaviour can ocurr a few days after I have left.
I've read information and we have all tried to change our behaviour in order to change my Dog's behaviour but nothing has worked.
I would be grateful for any advice.

hey i have owned german shepherds for bout 10 years and none of them have shown any aggressionl. However i have learned that usually bitches are the worst for it, but dogs can also be the same as male dogs usually bond to one member of the family i know it will be hard and you may not want to do it but try and not give the dog as much attention form you when you return home and let other people give it the attention so that it knows it can get attention from everyone. if it is just showing agression to one person let that person spend more time with that person and soon you will see the results. if you need any help email me Boyesm@aol.com

Are you absolutely sure his behaviour is linked to your visits? :)
It's just that, if the dog is getting aggressive several days after you have left, it seems unlikely to me, and i wonder if the cause may be something else. It is possible it is also medical.
What sort of routine is kept up and is any training done with him? Does he like the people who look after him (ie do they love dogs :D ) and who is the person he aggresses towards and what is happening at the time of the aggression? :)
best wishes
