My Copper is a Springer Spaniel.  We are dog sitting for my boyfriends parents while they are in Arizona.  He was scratching a lot when we first got him, but that seems to have calmed down.  Now he knaws at the middle pad on his front right paw.  It is bad enough that he has rubbed it raw, and it almost looks like it is painful to walk on.  He just started doing this about a week or so ago.
What could be causeing it, and how should we deal with it?

Could he have a thorn in it or something similar?
Or have you used something different to clean the floor/carpet/yard with ???
Just a thought?
or maybe its stress related becasue he is missing his owners

The only thing different thing I did was vacuum the house.  My BF is his owner, so he should be stressed.  I just hope things go back to normal when he goes home this weekend.

Have a good look for grass seeds or anything else as small then bandage it up to stop him causing any more pain. If your worried take him to the vets, i would rather pay the vets when i got back from hols than have a bigger problem if left untreated.
