Hi
saw a cute little staafy pup on our walk this morning.Got talking to the owners and found out it came from ....you guessed it...Mayfield kennels.
The owners said that the vet was very pleased with her and had told them that it was ok to buy from here because it wasn't the pups that were badly treated ...just the mothers!!! I told them that if people stopped buying from them then they would stop producing from these poor bitches but they said 'well we'd rather go there than to some breeder where you just walk in and walk out with a pup you know nothing about.'They also said they weren't worried cos staffys don't suffer from and deseases so don't need health testing...
Oh boy are some people naive or what

Then you'd be an idiot if you brought from a breeder who let you walk in then walk out with a puppy. BREEDERS who are responsible ask so many questions...damn this is annoying and what did the kennels ask them "were they paying by cash or credit card" :(  IDIOTS and I wonder why so many Staffies are in rescue...complete IDIOTS...IDIOTS.

Weird that a vet would endorse a puppy farm, or was s/he being determinedly positive, or misquoted even?

Maybe just maybe the vet was being sarcastic...and they didn't realise...if they are dense enough to buy from a puppy farm, it's possible

Or, if it is in the same area, just maybe the dog dealership is a client of the vet!  (Money talks)
bye

The vet would be in the greater manchester area so yes in the same area as the kennels.I think the vet was infering that the pups from this place were not unhealthy or mistreated...just the bitches..or thats the way I understood what they said anyway..but buying these 'healthy' pups means the bitches will just be used to produce more and so the cycle comtinues...
T o my mind the vet should have done his/her best to explain the reasons why buying a pup from somewhere like this is bad so that the owners don't go recommending it to someone else

As the vet is supposed to have said that the mothers ARE mistreated, I think you could be right - the vet was probably being sarcastic.

The vet is in a difficult position - he/she would be pleased that the pup itself seems healthy (now), and most wouldn't want to openly bollock their client for being such an idiot for buying from a puppy farm .  All they can do is put the boot in a very subtle way - too subtle for such idiots.
