hi my name is sarah and i have a 5 month old female ddb named ella.

the only thing that ive noticed is hers does not quite look stuck up enough to the pics of others that i have seen lol...is that something that will come as she grows up or have i been conned into paying 800 pound for a dog that is a cross breed?....advise welcome people as im starting to doubt her pedigree

many thanks

sarah and ella xx

If she's registered with the kennel club then surely this means that both parents are pure bred. It doesnt mean that they were good examples of the breed though. If shes not registered then did you not see both the parents when you bought her? Cuz its always a good idea if you can

no she's not registared due to the fact that her mum's mum's mum was an old english mastiff so she did not qualify as a pedigree due to the 5 generation thing...her dad on the other hand was sired by an awesome pedigree..saw the papers and photographs. like i said shes the image of a pedigree apart for her nose, will have to get pics up here if i can perahaps that would help?
p.s just joined the forum my handle is ella_bella

Please dont take this the wrong way as I am far from an expert on this matter (or any other!!) but if I had a stud dog with an amazing pedigree I'd want the bitch to be the same.
Anyway, I have no idea about the nose thing but you have to take em with all their imperfctions! My Angel is a pedigree and i think she always holds her tail too high which is buggin but I love her to pieces!

Hi Sarah,

I do not own DDB but joined the club about 4 years ago as I loved the breed, one of my friends has DDBs and I have just been to see his fab litter of 7 pups today.

I am afraid that the quality of DDB in general in this country is poor (I am not saying all of them are poor b4 I get jumped on).

My friend bought his first DDB and she came with papers, I am afraid she doesn't look much like a DDB in the head at all, too long in foreface. There are a number of breeders in this country who are just in it for the money not the good of the breed (I didn't say all b4 I get jumped on). I would be very careful when buying a pup as not all of them are what they seem to be!

Love your dog for just being her and hopefully the next time you are in the position to buy a DDB there will be a lot more quality puppies available and quality breeders.
