Hi guys,

I Know summer is a long way off, but i am starting to wonder about where i will send my beautiful - not so bitey - black lab for her holidays.  If any of you are from the NE of England i would be interested to hear your views.
I have used Triple A in the past and know they are fantastic, but it was costing me more than my mortgage payment!! unfortunately i do have to watch the pennies.  I have been warned off a couple of places - no names mentioned here- so if you could offer advice i would be grateful.  I want her to be loved and cuddled, walked and treated as she would be by us and not just left in some caged area.  It's not till August but if i need to put in some leg work doing visits etc. thought i better start now!!

Thanks
S

Hello,

Not dogs I know but about 15 years ago I thought of putting the cats in a cattery while I moved but (didn't in the end) however I contacted the council who approve the kennels/catteries and found them  most helpful he sent me the list of all, but also told me which ones he would reccommed personally and the two he gave me were fantastic. Try them for a list and visit I went first onan officaly booked visit for a look around then on the off chance and six on the list were good on the first but the second visit made me realise I would not put a stuffed animal in there  and would never leave my cats there. Hi Sara, wish I could be more helpful - Triple A now have 5star facilities, and the staff seem very caring.  also a very big staff so lots of attention, as no doubt you discovered.  However, while I could tell you of a couple of others to definetly avoid, dont know any others I could recomend, certainly none which would compare with Triple A!
bye

We spoke the local dog warden she gave us a list and told us which to avoid. Good luck

Might try the council route and see what comes up.  Finally starting puppy class next week as well - maybe they can help.  Triple A are fab - no doubt - no worries, but at £18.00 a day (!!!!!) it's a lot!.  Don't get me wrong, she is worth it and if i get six numbers on Saturday she will get it!!  I think there's a man called Joe who uses this forum and is from 'up here' - perhaps he has a view?

Thanks

Hi Sara, which council are you calling?  Triple A comes under South tyneside, and I think there are only 2 others in the borough, West Hall and Bridlelodge.  Sunderland,( heading south from Triple A) has Tarrill, probably others, cant think of them at the moment.  Going out to the Durham area there are lots more.

Wow - found the website for Triple A. What a place! Bet it would cost more than the holiday though.

Its really quite something!  Puglet and Dexter go swimming there, and we go to ringcraft on Tuesdays.I think another similar one has just opened in the Leeds area, and one is on the card in Manchester.  Even took the dogs to a christmas party there :)

If this Triple A kennels is as good as you say it is ( even though i think very expensive! ) i wouldn't wait too much longer to book. I work at a kennels in shropshire and we've only got a few spaces left for july / august!
