Sam,
I hope Shiba's OK. You know what pups are like for eating things they shouldn't so try not to worry too much - easier said than done, I know! Good Luck at 11.30. Let us know how she gets on.

hi, went to vets earlier than my appointment and got in quicker.just back home,
vet has given shiba an injection in her front leg and 1 in her neck.
hopefully this will fight off any virus, and help to stop the sickness and loose stools.
the foaming of the mouth is the result of the sickness and reaching.
her temperature is 103 should be 102 so slightly high.
i have to stop feeding her the normal food and give her at tea time scrambled egg and ric, then over the next 2 days give her tablets from vet and boiled rice, chicken or fish.
just untill shes back to normal.
the worsed senario being, over the next 48 hours she does not improove or worsens then the vet says, thats when to really worry about the possibility of poisoning.
thanks emma thanks joe for your concern, will keep a vigil and let everyone know how we are.
love sam xx

Hopefully the medication the vet has given her will perk her up in the next few hours.
Give her plenty of TLC. I bet your not letting her out of your sight.
Fingers crossed for you.

hi all, well its been several hours since we went to the vets, shiba's paw is a bit sore but her neck is ok, she has been sleeping most of the afternoon and has woken up a bit better, her ears are up and shes a bit more alert, shes had some water and i made her some chicken and rice which she has had a few mouthfuls off, ive brought 2 cooked chickens and got 2 big bags of boiling rice to tied me over, ive got some white fish in the freezer so im ok for a few days,
ive been out into my back garden and combed the grass for any suspicious things, nothing found.
my fingers and legs are tightly crossed in hope that she just has a virus or bug, and she will continue to pick up over the next 48 hours, simons at work and is frantic with worry but i am coping ok, the kids are very worried and have actually done as there told for a change, and leaving her alone.
I will keep you posted.
thanks

Sam just to let you know I am thinking of you & I hope puppy is better soon

It sounds as if she may be improving? I remember when Banya was ill, just for a 24 hour period. I think she had licked at a mushroon that had come up in the garden :( but thank goodness she was fine later. It's horrible worrying....

I know what it's like to worry. Norman was really ill after eating a dead mouse and I was paranoid that the mouse has died of poisoning so Norman would too! He didn't I'm pleased to say - doesn't stop me worrying though every time he picks something up - which he does almost every day! At least children grow up and stop putting thing in their mouth that they shouldn't!! :)
Pleased to hear Shiba is feeling better :D What do you mean "only a dog" you shouldnt feel silly worrying or crying for her,my dogs are my babies,my kids,i would do anything for them and i do ,do everything for them  I would be absolutely devasted if something were to happen to one of them,i honestly dont know if i could cope,if i suspect they arent feeling well i whip them off to the vet, better safe than sorry.
Bonnie once ate some soil that had fertiliser pellets in it which made her drooly and vomit up froth, have you been doing any gardening lately, have you used any new sprays or fertilisers?
Glad to hear she is picking up,keep us updated.
christine

Glad to hear all is well :)

Hope Shiba's feeling better, Just a note to say too much rice can be binding so this might be causing some of the problems. I would just stick to giving chicken or fish on its own. My two were ill and i worried and gave them chicken and rice for a few days and when thery werent getting better a friend gave me this advice so i left out the rice and in a few days they were back to there oldselves chasing round the garden. They were too full and bloated on the rice making it hard for them to digest properly so they were constipated at first then it went on to the runs because it had to go somewhere. hope this info helps

Sam,
Maybe it would be best not to give her anything except water for 24 hours. If she has a bug then even the chicken and rice will be 'feeding' it. I'm not an expert so I'm prepared to be shot down in flames but that's what's recommended for us lesser humans so maybe it'll work for Shiba.
Good Luck :)

hi all, since early hours no more poop. shes looking ok but still abit off.
the vet said as shes only 15 weeks old i need to just give her boiled fish and rice or chicken and rice and plenty of water.
this has been a nightmare.
ive used a tip i read about stains in carpets using a spray bottle and vinegar and water, it takes the poop smell off and does get the stains out.. 1 thing less to worry about.
im going to bed in a bit as i am apsolutely knacked.
thanks all
