I have a westie pup age 12 weeks , my daughter has a staffie 14 weeks , they met for the first time yesday, the staffie is a rite meatie thing 3 times the size of my rosie size, i was worried she mite hurt my rosie, i know i shouldnt but im over protective with her, they were playing but then rosie got cross and went for sasha getting her in a head lock i saw another side to her , are westie little toughies ?? i know its a silly question but i thought she would be a softie...

She's a terrier! Designed for killing things.......... But seriously, it's a good idea to supervise puppies playing together, as even terriers can get scared and this can result in unwanted behaviours like agression to prevent unwanted attention, so please seperate them before anyone looses their temper again ;)

any dog has the ability to change character to either protect itself or attack.
like the member has already said, terriers can be little horrors if they want to be.
forgive me if im wrong but they are puppies... surely its just puppy play?
finding their hierachy?
maybe if its gets to heated, they would best be seperated.

Yes, Westies are tough little dogs! All terriers were designed as vermin-control dogs, whether rat-killers or to go to ground after foxes etc. Have a study of the history of the breed and you'll discover what game little things they are! Just because they are small doesn't mean they are softies - far from it!
