Talk to you dogs breeder and show him with some success is the best way, you will need some help though to learn how to 'help' your dog and instruct the bitches handler what to do at any mating as your breed are not easy and owners of quality bitches are very fussy what stud they use. You may also need a kennel to house a visiting bitch and somewhere to put up her handler. The most important thing though is to make sure your dog is a good and healthy example of his breed.

sorry i don't understand what you mean about my dogs breeder? he is only 14month old but i don't know what age you breed them at. can you give me some links so i can look into it further or shall i get in touch with the kennel club?
Your reply was greatly appreciated, thanx

Sorry what do you not understand about talk to you dogs breeder? If you do they will tell you if the dog is suitable to think of breeding from, they will know what lines would be ok for him to be bred with, they will tell you what is involved in the actually mating process, they will tell you what you should be looking for in the bitches you accept for him, and if they think him very nice they may use him themselves or suggest his use to a friend. But would expect them to suggest you show him to prove him.

I know of no web sites that will tell you how to mate your dog or to turn him into a successful stud. And the Kennel Club will be of no help either, that is not their job.

Hi, Your dog's breeder is the person who bred him - who owned his mother, and is on his registration certificate as his breeder.
:)

Call the person YOU bought your dog from, that is what she ment...They will be the best place to start on how to go about what you want to do, that is your breeder....Hope he has had all his tests :)

i didn't get him from a pup, i have only had him about two month. he is full pedigree & kc reg. nice breed.

His breeder's name will still be on his registration certificate. Contact them and ask for any help - they will probably be delighted to hear of his whereabouts.
:)

Think you had better tell us a bit more about him and why you think it would be a good idea to breed him, have you bred dogs before? If not, Bulldogs with out help will be next door to impossible, they are very difficult to breed and not many people attempt it, which is why they are expensive to buy. So tell us more, what is his history, has he been shown have any bulldog breeders seen him and what did they think of him? Do you know anyone who does bred bulldogs who could and would help you? Has he been transfered to your name?

i do not have a clue ths is why i am trying to look into it but i don't know where to look first. i just thought that i have a very nice dog to offer, and as i know they are a rare dog, why waste him. The idea has only just come up so i know i have got some deep digging to do to find out more about it. I have got all of his papers and vet history, he is 14 month old. No, he has not been shown and i don't know any breeders to talk to. This is why i'm trying to get some info.

OK first things first, have you have the registration changed to your name. To do this look on the backside of the Registration Document, you will find a form that should be signed by the dogs last owner, fill this in and send it to the Kennel Club who will register the dog in your name. Next look on the front of the Registration Document and see if anything is writen under where it says 'Endorcements' if it does you will have to contact the breeder to ask for them to be removed. They may well wish to see the dog before doing so.

It is not that the Bulldog are rare it is more to do with the fact that they are so difficult to breed that not many litters are breed. There are over 200 entered at crufts so I don't think there is a shortage of quality males about.

Think it is Admins blue pencil the whole thread now make no sense at all - but I am sure it was a bulldog, hence my saying that the owner would need someone to help even should the dog prove suitable.

You're right Jackie - the original post did mention the breed.
