Hi we have a whippet and a while back ( 2 months ish) we started feeding little bits of raw meat chicken wings, necks, liver, minced beef whatever our local butcher has at the time ( and its all free which is nice ).
It was only this week we realised without really noticeing we've almost stopped feeding him his dry complete food, what we're wondering is could this of affected his behaviour as I know it sounds stupid but he seems a much more content dog, he was always pretty well behaved but sometimes he could be a bit hyper even though he always had plenty of exercise.
We're sure his coat has improved but we're wondering whether the food could be the calming influence or is it just a coincidence and he's just grown up a bit.

Many people notice their dogs appearing to be calmer when feeding a less processed diet - same thing happens with children ;)

THere has been a lot of research into food and behaviour.  Processed foods contain many additives, humectants, stabilisers, colourings, flavourings, anti-oxidants, plasticisers, etc etc etc which may nor may not be harmful in themselves such as ethoxyquin BHA BHT etc but also the synergistic effects of several combined have not been studied.  Research with children has demonstrated that taken off highly processed foods and colourings their behaviour is calmer and less disruptive.  Really you know it makes sense :D

Food can be used to manipulate behaviour in a number of ways.
