Hi Everyone ,please tell me i imagined  it !! .Posh & Becks have bought a Shar Pei pup ! i guess it wont take a master mind to work out the next designer must have it won't be the genuine breeders we have to worry about ,it will be the likes of the "Puppy farms " who will have started their production line....now !!i can not believe they didnt realise the effect that this would have on any pup that they would buy ,especially an unusual one , Bye Sue & Lola xx

read it in the sun today, they were out shopping and fell in love with it, she also bought 3 tortoises, wonder who's going to clean up the mess, bet its not her :rolleyes:

Posh & Rex , This is posh and Beck's new pooch - a £600.00 Shar-Pei. The Beckhams spotted the dog while shopping in Madrid with sons Romeo two, and Brooklyn Four. Posh bought it the next day with three tortoises. Shopkeeper David Martinez said : 'They and the children were taken by him'.

Can understand your concern of how they came to purchase it but Posh and Becks are already dog owners and have labradors, it is true that the wannahaves will want to have but hardly fair to blame them. There are many celebs who own dogs but concerns are only raised when they want to own an unusual breed, no one accuses Posh and Becks for making labs popular or Liz Hurley for making GSD's popular.

Think I can remember when Posh and Becks started going out together they bought a pair of Rotties.  Wonder what happened to them?

Izzy Bear if that was at me then I am not blaming them :P  I am blaming the paper & pointing out that there is no reason for it to be true.......a couple of our dogs were photographed with a celeb many years ago....6 weeks later there is a bit in a couple of dailies about her & her dogs lol  Just coz they print it..... :D

Hi Izzy,i know what you are saying and i am usually the last person to talk about someone i dont know or what they are up to ( i tend not to believe what i read in the news papers !),but they are such a high profile couple ,i know that must make anything they do difficult ,but they put them selves in the arena and know that whatever they do will be copied  and judged,also i think that Labs and Gsd's are such well established dogs ,there would not be the same stampede for them that i think there maybe for the Shar Pei's  ,i think Mrs Beckham enjoys creating a fashion ,and why not she has the money ,but i just wish celeb's like her would stick to clothes ,just my opinion but after visiting Battersea Dogs and seeing the last fashion statement (according to staff there ) the place is full ...literally full with Staffies ,apparently the people who actually bother to  take them to the home (most are taken in as strays off the street ,) the excuses are the usual from owners who didn't think before they bought ,and as usual the dogs are the victims ,  sorry lecture over !! i dont know much about shar peis but i guess that they arent staightforward to care for. yet that B*****y woman goes out & buys one like she would a new bag. some people are total morons.just because shes got money ,she certainley hasnt any common sense! & i doubt shell be on her asking for advise probaly just get rid of him if she gets a problem.

Interesting article on this in the Mail this week, by Beverley Cuddy.  I dont often agree with her views, but she was pretty spot on about a lot of the issues here.  I dont know enough about the breed to comment on her views of the difficulties involved in caring for Shar Pei, but she was spot on about the buying from a pet shop issue, and very uncomplimentary about the Beckhams for doing so.  Just hope their publicist manages to show them the article!

Hi Gwen,i missed the article but i think we all feel pretty much the same ,as i said before the Beckhams court publicity most of the time ,they know that for a lot of people out there they are style icons etc,so as much as i agree that they should be able to buy whatever dog they want ,just be aware of the effect on the breed ,but like you i dont know too much about these dogs ,but i was at Battersea yesterday ,(still looking for a dog for my m.i l.!) but during our interview there the interviewer,mentioned the Beckhams and the Shar Pei ,she said they are fighting dogs and they have all of the excess skin so that the other dog can not hurt them so easily ....? also she said  they would not be the best choice with children ? i am not sure about that , still the Beckhams have managed it again .....we are all  bl***y talking about them again !! ...i for one am going to leave them to it ,Take care Sue & Lola xx
