My pharaoh had a blood sample taken about 3 weeks ago and the vet noted that his white blood cell count was normal but his eosinphilic cell count was higher than normal. She thought it could be either an indication of parasites some kind of allergy or something else. Hes already been regularly wormed and was wormed when my other dog had lungworm about 2 months ago, but just as a precaution he was given another course of panacur to be on the safe side. She took another blood sample last night, the results this morning, according to the vet were "very bizzare" the eosinphilic count had gone up since doing the last test to 20+, in normal dogs the count should only be 1-2. I would say he definately hasn't got parasites does anyone have any idea what this could be?
I have to take in a poo sample tomorrow for futher tests but wondered if anybody had anything like this before? I have spoken to his breeder who hasn't heard of this but will ask around and get back to me. Any information would be greatly appreciated. BTW Marley is 13 months old.
Thanks
Clair
Edit: Hope the above is clear :D

Not sure about dogs, but in humans eosinophils are usually a indication of allergic reaction, asthma etc. Where you might expect further investigations to be done if any of the other kinds of white blood cells have an unusually high (or low) count, eosinophils are largely ignored because of their "transient" nature. That is, when the stimulus is removed, the count returns to normal.

Many thanks for your reply, the vet thought it could be an allergic reaction to something. He has to have another test in a few days to see if its still the same. If it is still high his breeders have said they will get marley's litter brother and sister tested just out of interest.
Thanks again I shall let you know what the results of his test is in a few days.
