I have an 18 mth old gsd x grayhound or whippet , my question is, is it ok for him to be running off lead and for how long , i know some gsds are prone to hip problems ( dont pounce on me lol    but could he be at risk ?? should i limit his off lead time as hes not really fully grown ??  Question two is he has a really nice grayhound collar that i would like his name ( branded ) into  does anybody know where i can get this done ??       Thankyou in advance for any replys  :)

At 18 months the growth plates will have closed therefore you should relax in the knowledge that he can run about freely.  Most dogs will not grow in height any more at this age but just fill out.

Thanks tohme   i feel alot better now , i just diddnt want to cause any damage :)   does anybody have any idea about the collar??

I've seen this sort of thing done at craft fairs. Also I don't know if a soldering iron would work. Or maybe an old fashioned cobblers or blacksmiths??
