Was just wondering if anyone could advise me.  I wish to purchase a yorshire terrier.  Primairly as a pet, however I would also like to be able to breed it on down the line.  Most adverts I see for them all state miniture and I have been told that if the bitch is small it would have problems pupping and could end up needing a c.section.  Would be greatful if anyone could tell me how to know what size of pup to look for.  I have been told that at 13wks they are approx half the size they will grow to but any for sale are sold at 8wks....please help thanks in advance.  Lou.

Nice to know there is something nice in Blackpool.  Its just a pity I did'nt see anything nice when I was there for the first and last time last summer.

There is no such thing as a miniature Yorkshire Terrier. If you are thinking of breeding, you obviously need to gain a lot more knowledge & experience of the breed before you start. The Breed standard for Yorkies states 4-6lbs. Go here to find contacts for breed clubs & don't be tempted to buy one of these "miniatures". Good quality Yorkies are hard to find, so take your time researching the breed first.

Thank you for your reply.  I have done some research all be it just reading books and looking up various internet sites which ended in me coming here.  I have been looking for a pup for several months now and you are right in what you say about good dos being hard to come buy.
I don't know if I will ever breed or not but I wish to choose the right dog which would at least keep that option open for me.  I will grow my knowledge but I have to start somewhere. Thanks again.  Lou.

If you contact the Kennel Club or some or all of the breed clubs you can then contact some of the breeders and go and look to their stock, all so attend some shows and talk to the people who are showing their Yorkies. You will then be able to sort out the good from the average, and the average from the poor, and the poor from the disaster.

If you need help contacting the KC or the breed clubs come back for some info.
