Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / from Jekyll and Hyde to a recall angel!

Just thought I would share with you my joy!  As you may have read my boy (Bobby 10mth make staff) had become a complete monkey and misbehaving, well this weekend we worked hard on his recall (it used to be good when he was little, and then went out of the window as the hormones came with a big rush); I was so proud of him; on Sunday we were playing with him off the lead in the field with a ball (he is mad about balls) we were there for about an hour and on sperate occassions 5 different dogs came through the field, and with one recall, each time, he came back and sat by my side! ;-)  One dog even ran across the field to play with Bobby and he kept looking behind him but still came over to me until I said he could play.  I am not sure if this was a one off, but I am pleased as punch and going to keep at the recall training.

Brill, but keep at it.  A dog generally requires a great deal of "proofing" before you can call it reliable; until 18 months at least if not 2 years.

Well done persistence pays off.  Bradley ran off at the weekend and wouldnt come back.  I just sat on the grass and cryed. Then he flattened me and wouldn't get off.  Hes a big heavey boy now
