It's coming up a year since I lost my dad :( and was busying myself upstairs when I heard a crash. I ignored it as Norman is always dragging his toy box around. Thought that was it.
Have just come downstairs and dad's photo has fallen off the mantlepiece. And Norman is curled up asleep with it between his paws looking the picture of innocence. He was asleep in front of the fire when I left him!
I don't belive in the afterlife and I'm not religious but he loved my dad and it's nice to think there's something more to it than a fallen photo and a tired dog.
Just thought I'd share that with you ;)

Sometimes it's moments like that that get you through the tougher times. :)
Is your dog really called Norman?

:)

Jo,
Yes, he's really called Norman! At the time it seemed fun and unusual. Now it seems........... his name. Bit embarrassing shouting it and dad never would but I'm used to it so I'm always surprised when people think it's odd. Still we go together well - the Odd Couple! :)

:D
I'm sure it suits him. :D I shouldn't really cast aspersions - my first ever dog was a collie called Lassie.
Jo :)
Edited to add: But in my defense I was only about 7 years old and it seemed like a good idea at the time.

That's a really nice picture Joe,
I think I will choose to believe there's more in it than " a fallen photo and a tired dog" :)
I can almost see your Dad stroking Norman while he slept. It's nice to think he's still around, just keeping an eye on you, and when your busy keeping Norman company.

Joe I'm not religous either but it is very comforting knowing our loved ones are close & giving us a wee look especially when they let you know like that. Next time sit down quietly with your thoughts its a lovely feeling. My mum lived with us till she died and I feel her presence everywhere.
Take care

Joe, I can picture Norman curled up by the photo :)
I'd love to meet Norman - he sounds a real character. :)

i too lost my dad whom i was very close to, he died in 1987 but feels only like a short time ago.
i would like to think he is proud of my achievements and what my family has turned out like.
belief is a strong power and with it you can have a wonderful life.

Thanks everyone. Think I'll stuggle to read any more posts on this topic as I'm a big manly man and it's not easy to maintain that whilst blowing your nose repeatedly. :)
