Depending on how bad, I know of a horse at the college which had to have the eye stitched!! It should clear up ok although it could leave a scar on the eye. This kind of damage is common with working gundogs working in cover. When Anna had a scratch on the eye I dosed it up with Broline and it cleared quite quickly but I stress, this was only a minor scratch causing the eye to get very bloodshot.

Best wishes, John

My Boxers scratched their eyes a few times mostly cleared with ointment but did need the third eyelid stitched over for protection twice (2 diff dogs) Healed up well and no on going problems

Tiva my boston has two little scratches or something on the right eye...Iam putting Gentocin drops in her eye 3-4 times a day. Her eye seems to be doing ok, not gunky anymore and it seems to be fading...Have been doing this now for over 7 days on advice from my vet. Good thing is is that its starting to look better.

When Junior's eye was damaged (a chunk taken out, long storey) I had to put Gentocin in his eye and about 5-10 minutes later I had to put in Atropine which was a steriod to stimulate the pupil, we tried to save his eye. It never worked with him cause his eye was badly damaged and we had to have it removed and now his eye is sown shut.

T-bone due to cherry eye was starting to get an ulcer on her eye's and was going cloudy I had some kind of ointment to put in her eye's for 7-10 days before they could do the surgery and she now has beautiful eye's. Her eye's cleared up real nice.

All 3 boston terriers
