Topic Other Boards / Foo / MUSIC QUIZ - HELP NEEDED PLEASE
- By Steph [gb] Date 12.02.04 20:16 UTC
Hubby bought home a music quiz, we have answers for all questions except one!! AArgh.  The initials of the pop artist/group are DD and the song title initials are TR.  The song was a 1970's hit.

Please help.

The nearest I can get is Tie a Yellow Ribbon by Dawn.

I've flicked through all the 'D's' in my Guiness Book of Hit Singles I got for crimbo and can't find any artists named DD apart from Diana Dors but thats not the 70's.  Duran Duran and The Reflex is the 80's.

Damn, that's really going to bug me now!

Yes I thought about Duran Duran too, but not in the 70's.

Still puzzled

I've looked through all the No.1's of the 70's and it doesn't look like it was any of those.

There are several groups/artists with DD as initials but have you ever heard of DJ Dan or the Dum Dums?!!

Yes, all I can think of is The Reflex by Duran Duran, but as Jacky says, that wasn't released till 1984.

Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich had hits from 65 - 69.  Nothing beginning TR though.

I thought if anyone would know the ansa's, then CDers would!  I'll check with the creator of the quiz that it's not a mis-print or that it should have been in the 80's section.  Or maybe I'll just put Duran Duran in and hope for the best.

Thanks anyway

No please check with the person who wrote the quiz!  I have asked a friend who writes quizzes and who knows loads about music (having been a dj in the 70's) and he can't work it out either.

Make sure you post the answer when you get it!

Thanks all,

I think we're going to go with Texas Ruby - Dave Dudley (although I've never heard of him).  I might attach a note for the quiz master explaining who he is, just in case it's not the correct answer (in the eyes of the quizmaster).

Emma, explain EXACTLY how you know about Dirk Diggler (I looked him up, I had no previous knowledge - honestly).

Neither Dave Dudley or Texas Ruby are in the Guiness Book of Hit singles, which probably means they weren't that much of a hit in the UK!  I wonder why?
