Im trying to train my two pups... it is not going very well at all! They love to wee in the kitchen and tend to just wander in there and do their business. I have been watching them very close but the second I take an eye off them to work on my studies there they go. Any advice on how to stop this behaviour? I am really tired of cleaning up doggie potty.

How are you managing the training? Do you just wait for them to tell you they want to go? Or do you take them out on a schedule to give them the opportunity to do the right thing and then praise them for it? Pups need to go after waking, eating, playing, ANYTHING exciting (like the postman, or visitors) and every 30 mins or so inbetween. The more chance they get to do the right thing, and the better suited to them the praise is, the quicker they will get the hang of what you want :)
PS - Puppies??? More than one is ALWAYS going to be harder :(

How old are the pups, to start with it is you who needs to be trained to pup them out ever half hour or so, as they get older they may if you are lucky let you know they want out. I have a 5 month old pup and the only time he is really quite is when he is desperate to go out, thinking that coming up and touching me with his nose will suffice, took me weeks to cotton on, talk about pups being slow to train.
I have 2 6mth old Staff pups (plus mum) and it is hard work housetraining them...I'm not sure how old yours are but maybe you need to start from the very beginning again with them ie as previously recommended taking them out to the loo every 30 minutes (time consuming yes, worth it in the end, definitely) and praising them hugely everytime they perform (don't worry about the weird looks you get from the neighbours when you start hollering with delight about your pup having a wee...the neighbours begin to ignore you after a while ;-)).
Have a command word that you give to the pups when toileting (followed by huge amounts of praise) and they will learn to perform on command! All of my dogs have learnt this and the pups are learning it too and it's a very handy trick to know...
If the pups don't perform that time, ignore it and keep repeating that process for many weeks! That's the joy of having pups...they are a huge commitment and having two just doubles everything!
One of my pups is now fully-housetrained and will give me clues that he wants to go out...the other...well, he's not quite so quick on the uptake unfortunately and is still not 100% reliable, so I just keep up the regular outings to the garden with him and I'm sure it'll pay dividends in the end.
You just have to be patient I'm afraid...there's no quick or easy solution...some pups learn quicker than others.

Okay lots of questions to answer. Bonnie, chow/lab, is 4 months old and Clyde, husky/lab, is 3 months old. I take them out about every 2 hours :/ After they do their business, I give them treats and get on the floor with them and love them like crazy! We have a huge yard but they dont like to wee in it. They like to go to the other yards around here so Im having to use a leash... they dont like that one bit! I also have to take them out one at a time because they get distracted. Oh I get up at night with them every 3 hours also. That is killing me! Should I make them hold it?
Clyde sits by the door for about a minute when he needs to go. If I dont see him... he just goes. Bonnie is a bit more stuborn.

Think you need to go back to the start, take them out every half hour and tell them be quick or go now or whatever. If you have to take them on a lead still use the word you choose and say it as you see them go, when they will go when told then you should be able to use the yard that is more convenient to you by just telling them the magic word.
The both should be able to hold poo over night and the 4 month old should be dry most nights but as you have two if one goes the other will. Have you tried using 2 crates for them at night.

You can't make them 'hold it' I'm afraid! It's a skill that comes with maturity and training, and nothing can rush it! Take them out every hour or so during the day, and watch them continually while they are awake. Clyde is getting the idea - it's up to you to respond to his signal. Bonnie is not being stubborn - she just doesn't yet know what you want her to do! (This is why I never recommend people have two pups at the same time - it's so much more hard work.) And yes, getting up in the night is par for the course! It beats having messes indoors, because every puddle/poo indoors is a step back in the house-training.
Good luck!
