my labrador bitch has been mated accidentally by a golden retriever dog, he lives next door and he must have jumped over the fence when my bitch was out in the back yard while I was at work. I was not too happy about this, but my next door neighbor seems to think its a great idea. she says I should register the puppies with the kennel club using my bitches papers and the papers for her other dog, she also has a chocolate lab, would I be able to do this? she says I should just go ahead and not tell anyone, that way, I can sell the puppies for the price of a purebred lab instead of a cross, and no-one will ever know, but Im worried if I do, the kennel club will find out and ban me from breeding in the future. HELP! what should I do?

Take her to your vet immediately and they will give her an injection to stop the pregnancy progressing. It would be totally irresponsible to do anything else.

To do that would be not only morally wrong to your breed and to the future puppy owners but it is ILLEGAL as it would be fraud.
Get the bitch to the vets and see if they can terminate it. With 41,000 labradors puppies registered in 2003 I don't think you need to add to the problem with cross ones.
Sorry but that is the truth.
If it's not too late, get the 'morning-after' injection from the vet. If it is too late for the injection, you have a choice of having her spayed or continuing with the pregnancy.
Registering and selling the puppies with KC registration would be fraud. If you go ahead with such a course of action, I hope that you are found out.
In future, you might want to consider not leaving a bitch in season outside in a yard which is not secure. Perhaps other dogs have also found their way in?

do you really think that you will get buyers for all your pups that are stupid enough not to tell that they are x breeds. If they look like labs as pups some will inherit certain characteristics from the sire and will not look like labs as adults.By registering with the KC you are signing a legal agrrement and hence if one of the pup owners want to they can take you to court and sue you...you can be done for fraud and will also have action taken against you by the KC.
Ask yourself....if you bought a pup that was suposed to be pedigree and turned out to be a x breed how would you feel...I'D sue..wouldn't you!!!

I just hope you are joking Guest!!!
Leaving an in season bitch outside whilst at work was the height of irresponsibility! Now to compound it with the suggestion of fraudulently registering the resultant puppies as Labrador's beggar's belief.
The very least you can do now is to get your vet to end the pregnancy before you get in any more trouble. You must realise that you would be defrauding any puppy buyer and they would have the right of redress.
I trust this is a sick joke.

But just imagine John 10 or 12 irate puppy buyers taking the guest to court for a few thousand, bet they would remind them not to leave her outside when she is in season, and then try to defraud the public.
Once again I have to say I do hope this is yet another WUM.

People like this make me sick Jackie. They are destroying the breed I love. In some respects I would enjoy them being sued for a few thousand.

Just trying to cheer you up John. At the moment the board seems full of people wanting to buy or breed in an unsuitable and total immoral manner, which is bad enough, but some seen hell bent in trying to persuade others to follow suit. Come back all those who want to tell me how to feed my dog, all is forgiven. :D

That's why I'm staying away Jackie!! This board used to be overwhelmingly supported by reputable and experienced breeders happy to help and encourage those novices wishing to learn. Now the trend seems to be "I want to breed because I have a dog and bitch of the same breed, so why shouldn't I?"!
My views on those who produce puppies without having learned about their chosen breed for years isn't printable - so I leave it to those with more patience than me!!
Thats the reason I very rarely post on here now Val, I pop in every now and again to see if there is any improvement, but the opposite seems to be happening.
and I don't think we are the only ones who tend to keep away now, most of the original experienced people just can't be bothered anymore.

Looks to me like the WUMS choose our breed too John, I certainly hope that is what it is.
Debbie.
