Hi,
I know it's a mouthful but I'm just writing to find out if anybody out there has heard of this or has had experience of treating dogs with this condition as I think that this may be the problem with my dog and would like to find out as much information as possible about it.
Thanks in anticipation.

I think it happens mostly in spayed girls because they have had their ovaries removed, i believe it is treatable.
Sorry i don't know anymore, someone else should be along soon!

Have you read up on the "human" version?!! It happens to menopausal women too!!!

Which is why they invented 'Tena-lady'. It's a normal (if annoying) consequence of non-functioning ovaries.
i always thought that was to do with weak pc muscles. gosh u learn a new thing everyday

I'm sorry i had to laugh at the 'Tenna lady' response lol.
My daughter suffers incontinence and i believe it is similar in that the bladder doesn't shut properly enabling seepage to occur!
There should be medication available to help.
Best of luck!!

It can be as well especially if you have had a baby !! You get used to 'Have you done your pelvic floor muscle excercises ?' You have to think before you sneeze !! :)

...or even cross your legs before you sneeze!

I think it's that little stance that women do in the street when sneezing, abruptly stop and slightly cross legs !! That's a sure fire give away lmao :D
this is kind of gross but anyway... i used to use these things from the US when i was 'on' instead of tampons and the like, they're a bit like a diaphragm. but i stopped using them after it flew out of me whilst sneezing once.... so embarrassing !
ok i'll stop talking about horrible things now :D

Oh blimey, I hope you weren't in the middle of the supermarket!

:D
I tried one of those too. It's called the Keeper menstrual cup. (anyone who's embarrassed shouldn't be on this thread anyway :D) They are a brilliant idea, better than spending all that money on disposable stuff, better for your health and better for the environment. Unfortunately I had to stop using it as I found it a bit too "ouch"! but lots of women really like them.

As I understand it the cause lack of oestrogen which leads to incompetence of the sphincter which controls the bladder. The muscle relaxes allowing urine to escape. Lots of info. about it out there on the web - you'll find better explanations than I can give you. My bitch is on "Propaline" which is working okay so far. (Fingers crossed.). You'll need to go to a vet to have it prescribed.

If this dog was a woman, a touch of HRT would do the trick. I am sure there is a doggy equivalent!
