No responsible breeder is likely to sell you 2 puppies together. It is definately not a good idea and you would find training them a nightmare! Much better to buy one & then wait until it is 18months - 2yrs, then get another. Make sure the parents of any puppy you buy has been eye tested & hipscored. Have you looked here on champdogs for breeders or contacted one of the breed clubs for a list of breeders?
labs are not my breed, but if you join the forum, there are a number of very helpful Lab owners who could help you.

Yes please do not get two together. It will be a nightmare to train them especially if you are a first time dog owner.

It is best to devote your time on one pup, train them and wait at least two years before you consider getting another one.

I have had Labs for 16 years and our two most recent additions are a year apart which has to say the least been a big challenge. It is not for the faint heated and you have to have a lot of time and patience to dedicate one to one training.

Hi Donna (hope I've got your name right),

As already advised, most reputable breeders won't sell you 2 pups from the same litter.  This is because the pups would bond to each other more than their 'human' family. This could lead to problems with training, for instance separation anxiety when they are alone.  We have had a few instances at my training club when people turn up with two puppies, and training them is always much harder work.  We always advise to train them individually, and even then its can be very difficult.  Some people get two pups to keep each other company, but I would suggest getting one pup, enjoying it and training it for at least 18 months before considering getting another one.
Chocolate labs make VERY big, bouncy pups and two of them would be a real handfull.  Please don't think that I'm trying to put you off having two dogs- I have 2 labs, one 5 1/2 years and one 9 months.  I enjoyed my older dog growing up way before I got my pup.  I now have a very well trained adult dog, and a puppy who has 'learnt' some of her behaviour- dogs will always learn from other dogs more easily than from people, so if you have an older, calmer young adult dog first, your pup is more likely to learn good bahaviour.  This is not to say that they don't need lots of training-they do:)

Whatever you do, make sure that you get your pup/pups from a really good breeder, check the hip/eye scores and make sure that you see the parents (although, sometimes you won't be able to see the dog). There are, unfortunately, a lot of unscrupulous breeders out there selling chocolate labs, so the more research you do now, the better chance you will have of getting a pup that will be a great memeber of your family.

Good luck
Ali :)
