Topic Dog Boards / General / Dog Car Cage
- By sandrah Date 10.02.04 19:00 UTC
I have been tossing up between a cage or a tailgate for the back of my car, I think I have decided on a shaped cage now.  Mainly as it would be easier to lift out to clean the car.

I have a Peugeot 306 estate, can anyone recommend a supplier of a cage that is strong, but not too heavy, silver in colour (silver car, like to be co-ordinated :) ) and with if possible a lock rather than using a padlock.  A website address would be useful.  I have seen a guardsman, but it seemed so heavy.

I thought if I ordered now I would beat the Crufts order backlog.

Many thanks

guardsman are heavy, but in my opinion you won't get better quality.
they are sturdy, strong & would withstand a bump, should you have a "prang"

I recently looked into cages for myself & some collegues - we all do loads of miles every day driving all over the country & so wanted the best possible (always previously had guardsman) & we ended up..... after checking out loads of different ones.... going again with Guardsman - they have a website (do a search for athag or guardsman) & they will send you a brochure if requested.

Barnesbrook are made by an ex aircraft engineer and do not rattle and are of superb quality, Barjo are also excellent.

Thanks everyone, have been looking on the Barjo site, expensive but they look good.  Does anyone know if they rattle?

Off to look for a website for Barnesbrook, haven't heard of them before.

Lintran are brilliant and their after sales service is top quality.  I don't think they do anything in silver but it might be worth giving them a ring.

Have bitten the bullet and ordered a Barjo one, The measurements seem to fit the car so well, very helpful lady on the phone, she assures me it won't rattle.  Delivery tomorrow.

Had a look at the lintran ones, wasn't too keen on them being boxed in, rather then open mesh.

Unfortunately it is black, still I suppose it goes with silver :D

Just got to break the news of how much I have spent tonight to hubby, better cook him a nice dinner :D

Thanks everyone

Lintran aren't as boxed in as they appear.  They are great for dogs that get car sick as they can only look backwards or forwards and not out the side.

I wouldn't be without mine.
