Hi Kath, Can you give us a bit more information please? What makes you think that your girl has miscarried? Are you sure she was in whelp in the first place? Did your vet give you any idea what he thought had caused the problem?

Hello Kath tell your friend she must have swabs done to see what the problem is . If the bitch is mated again it is likely the same thing will happen. I am not saying there is infection present in the bitches system ,but if there is it will not go away without treatment. best wishes Mari

Hello again Kath . I am afraid that is not the way of things at all. complications can occur in any pregnancy. It depends on the health of the bitch and her ability to whelp. In my experience and im only saying my own,a bitch that has a difficult time first will always have a difficult time . I am sure some will have different experiences but thats mine . mari

I had a C section on a bitch with inertia in August, she had 4 pups, and I lost one. She had previously with ease whelped two litters in Oct. '97 8 pups (i lost), and Nov. '98 7pups (all reared). Each pregnancy is different!

A friend lost her bitch last year whelping her second litter!
