I have been offered a harlequin great dane x irish stafford puppy. ive been to see the pups at 4 weeks of age, and they were absolutely gorgeous! their markings are stunning, really unusual! can anyone tell me if this type of mating will produce a dog which lives longer than the great dane, as ive heard they only live to about 7 years of age if you are lucky. does anyone have one of these hybrids? the breeder told me they are becoming very popular (this is her 2nd litter)

I cannot think of one reason someone would want to cross a dane with a ISBT.
Harlies can suffer from a lot of problems. I suggest you look into that before you go anywhere near this particular cross.
Danes can live longer than 7. Its dependent on their breeding, how they are fed, exercised etc etc.

Ive got to "ditto" what chloe has said! really the mind boggles at what they will end up looking like(though im sure they are cute at the moment!)

Well while there are people out there that will buy these crosses then i suppose others will breed them
Grace

God knows how much youd be expected to pay for one!!!!
Why does this appeal to you guest? is it the markings Or that you think theyd be healthier?or you want something different? have you seen photos of the 1st litter to see how the 1st lot turned out? maybe if the breeder is so proud of them they will only be TOO HAPPY to put you in touch with some of the first babies owners!

Remember that 'Otis' the supposed 'pitbull type' that was (legally) seized from his owner's car, kennelled in solitary for over a year and finally destroyed, was a great-dane cross. :( The chances of these meeting a similar fate is high.

:( :( :( - I have to agree with Grace, while there are people willing to buy them, there will always be people who will breed them - Why don't you get the real thing - either a harlie or an ISBT???

Because they would have to pay a lot of money for a harlie - 1k upwards to 3k and beyond.

Why on earth...other than money of course would people breed this cross. As JG has said a great dane X has already been destroyed. I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole-regardless of how cute they are. Buying will only encourage the "breeder" and I use the word cautiously to breed more litters.

2 of my favourite breeds an one of the stupidest crosses I've ever heard of

Supposidly they are hoping they will look like a big mastif but what you get will be a mystery.
What sort of idiot breeds such a valuable dog (both in love and cash terms) like a harlie dane with anything
