Hi everyone , well i am still looking for a dog for my m.i.l.i have been going to Battersea(Windsor ) and R.S.P.C.A. Chobham ,has anyone else any other ideas ,i have all the lists for my area but it so often means just turning up and hoping for the best  and are hours away ,,i have been offered a Pyranean(sp) this week ,unfortunatley too big ,i so want to find a companion for her ,i telephoned a Rescue centre in the Guildford area ( they have been emailing me for at least 9 months ,i contacted them once before getting Lola !the woman who aswered the telephone was amazing ,Rude, sarcastic condescending ,and breathtakingly patronising, what a shame i will never know if she had the right dog for me ,thank god she is in the minority when dealing with dog carers !i find it hard seeing so many dogs looking so miserable in cages ,and not being able to find the special one for us ! any ideas or help would be very much appreciated ! Take care all Sue & Lola xx

If you are interested in particular breeds, why don't you contact the breed club for information on the breed rescue.

Often a search in Google will bring it up or ring the Kennel Club for a contact number. Often a better way of doing it then through the general rescue kennels.  You will also have their support afterwards.

Did you talk to Judie?!? at the Celia cross greyhound trust? I really hope you do go there. They are so lovely there and the dogs are too! They really care about the dogs there and want to find them all good homes. A lot of them have been very badly mis treated. One of them (named Georgina) is deaf and her owners would beat her when she didn't do what they wanted but the poor thing couldn't hear them so she never did what they told her :(  Well she's safe now and has a very loud bark which puts people off :( but has been trained using hand signals. I really recommend you take a look as they match the dog to the owner and are very good at it too so you could find your perfect dog there! (I got mine from there!) I think this is the 1 you are talking about? If not I can give you the address!

Im sorry she seemed rude to you but they are very nice! (I promise!)

Good luck in your search and i promise you will find the right dog there!

Hi Sara, thanks for your reply ,i am not sure but i dont think the place you mentioned is the one i am talking about (,the place in question advertises all sorts of amimals looking for homes cats ,dogs,Rabbits, ferrets etc ,i am sure this woman is a one off maybe just having a bad day !! not sure though ,i just could not believe her attitude ,when i mentioned i had a rescue dog myself so it would be important to make sure any dog we took on would get on with her i mentioned getting Lola from Chobham saying i was not sure if she knew of it ,she said in the most condesending way ,"KNOW IT ? DO I KNOW CHOBHAM ? OF COURSE I KNOW CHOBHAM ....I HAVE BEEN IN DOG RESCUE FOR 16 YEARS ,OF COURSE I KNOW CHOBHAM" !!!!!!!also when i said we thought an older dog might be a good idea ,i asked what she thought ?she said " and what do YOU class as older ?"i said maybe three or four ,she then said in that really s****y way, WE do NOT class that as old ! at that point i told her thank you but no thank you ,then she calmed down a bit .....too late for me i am afraid ! anyone that patronising ,arrogant and rude should not in my opinion be trying to rehome anything ,still left me angry and upset though , sorry to have gone on ....again !maybe you could p.m me the tel no and address of the place you mentioned ,once again many thanks Sara, Take care &bye Sue & Lola xx

Hi Sue,
I am a rep for a pet food company, and I visit lots of kennels, rescue and boarding. Many of the boarding kennels take in rescues for the dog wardens etc, and these probably would not be seen on any websites.
If you let me know what size, type etc of dog you are looking for, I can ask around and find out if there is anything suitable.
I don't know what area you are in, or how far you'd be willing to travel, but have you tried Pineridge dog rescue at Ascot? They take in mostly strays from Wales, where they are overrun with stray dogs which would otherwise be be destroyed. Or Amen Pet care, also at Binfield, although they will be moving soon to Warfield. Chilterns dog rescue near Chesham are lovely people, and are very supportive of new owners.
Let me know what you are looking for and I'll see if I can help.

Hi Liz ,this sounds wonderful ,as i have said earlier the dog is for my mother in law who has just lost her beloved Rhodesian  Ridgeback and is on her own ,so allthough this sounds like trying to replace "lucky"it honestly isnt , its just that she is on her own and very lonely ,so we are looking for a low shedding (problems with asthma) male or female ,medium sized dog ,my mother in law is used to walking up to three hours per day ,so any help you can offer would be brilliant ,hope to hear from you soon Bye Sue & Lola xx
