we  have a puppy who is about 7 months, and we have trained him to sit, stay etc. one thing we are finding difficult is training him to poo in a certain part of the garden . our garden is very large and he is pooping in the flowerbeds and on the patio which is actually used for summer barbecues!!! we really do not want him to do this as it is not particularly hygienic and doesnt look nice . also as the summer draws closer (hurray!) we will be inviting many guests round for barbecues . i have heard that 'dog detterent sprays' are available to stop this problem, but have not found any . i would be really greatful for any advice .
thank you in advance

Hi Guest

I don't think you will find the spray's will work.  Does he go on command, if not you should be saying a certain word when he does go, it is not only helpful in the garden, but when you take him out.  You could then put him on the lead and take him to the spot you want him to use and command him to go.

The best idea would be to fence off a part of the garden, if he is a small dog it will only need a low fence and a small area, then put him inside the enclosure everytime you want him to wee or poo.  He will soon get used to the idea then.
