Are any of you Champdoggers also mad enough to be doing an Open University Course?  Lea and myself are both battling to complete assignments for our courses and keep getting distracted by CD!

an un named degree. Was going to do it in science, but doing something aimed around computers, seeing as, you wont be able to do anything in the future unless you have a knowlkedge of computers. Will make my degree up as I go along.
60 points down 300 to go!!!!!!!!

Not this year - maybe next.  Did T102 (kind of predecessor to T171) in 1999, started S203(?) in 2000, but my Dad died in May of that year, so I had to stop studying while I sorted out family stuff :(  Hope to get back to it next year with maybe the science foundation course, and then do something psychological/educational......
- By Lea Date 08.02.04 22:20 UTC
Digger, you just want to get back on FC, You know Big D wont let you :D LOL

I did the Diploma in French 1996,7,8, English Language past present and future 1999 Certificate in Health Promotion 2000 (coincided with returning to Health Visiting) and Religion in Victorian Britain 2001. I got 60 points credit from my 1979 HV certificate. So I graduated in 2002, at Milton Keynes, receiving my hand-shake from Betty Boythroyd, who was wonderful - especially to the disabled students. It was hard work, but well worth it. So keep on going, all of you!
Cathy.

Too right I do - suffering withdrawal after nearly 4 years (but at least I do get around to pushing the hoover about nowadays <G>)  Is there somewhere ex FC adicts can go (apart from CD that is?)
- By Helen [gb] Date 09.02.04 19:18 UTC
I've done two courses with them and am just about to sign up for another one.  I started off with T1830 which is a basic web design course and then I moved up a level.  Hoping to complete the Certificiate in Web design.

I did an OU degree in psychology several years ago.  Took me six years.  Good luck to all of you and try to keep it up.  It's really hard work.  I used to get comments like "oh, that's the one where you watch telly isn't it?".......
Since gaining my degree I have found new opportunities as well as more self confidence, I'd always thought I was really thick, but then I realised I could achieve things.  I felt like a hermit for those six years.  I loved October to February when I wasn't involved in TMA's and examtime.
All the best to anyone doing OU, you should be proud of yourselves.

I did K100 last year and I'm doing U212 Understanding Childhood with the hope of achieveing a degree in Youth and Childhood Studies too.  I really find it hard to get down to it and the exam for K100 was the first I had sat for 21 years.  Very scary!
- By Lea Date 09.02.04 21:17 UTC
mmm, I have that problem. Should have started mine on the 5th. Got to stay in all day on Wednesday, so going to sit down an get going with the course then. When I get going it will be ok, as will have alot of support with other students. But it is the get going thats the problem,(oh and CD!!!!!!!!!!)

OMG!!!!!!!!!! I was doing registrations at Keele summer school from 89 - 96 I was the poor mug giving out room keys, meal cards, advising about lectures in Westminster theatre D103, lab coats for the S102 course, mini bus in the main car park that will take you to your accommodation.  I lived in at least 2 wks per yr whilst the kids were looked after by grandad, granny was the Assistant School Sec so I had to be a good girl at all times------ UNLIKE the students lol.
- By jackyjat [gb] Date 11.02.04 20:56 UTC
I'm a bit disappointed that Health and Social Welfare courses don't seem to have summer school.  A work colleage has told me many a tale of sin and debauchery that went on during her time studying!

I gather there is plenty to stop you from applying yourself solely to your studies!  It's good to hear it productive in some way for you, what courses were you doing?
- By Wirelincs [gb] Date 12.02.04 13:47 UTC
OMG I was a D103Student and I certainly didnt behave myself!
Diane
- By jackyjat [gb] Date 12.02.04 15:43 UTC
I think I might have to choose my next course solely because it has a summer school!
- By Lea Date 12.02.04 18:51 UTC
Oh yes. summer schools are deffinatly worth it!!!!!!!!
I went to S103. We acrtually got the kitchens locked at night, as we were too noisy til 3-4am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really must do it again soon!!!!!!!!!!!
Lea :)
- By Schip Date 12.02.04 19:27 UTC
Hmm now let me think the humanities students were always quieter than the science ones and it was the science one's who got lost from accommodation to Physic's lecture theatre 1, mind the weeks when both were in was a whole different ball game for us staff --------- sleep what's that then boss?????????
