Can't help Tracey, but if you find one, let me know, cos Libby wrecks all her toys in 5 minutes flat :(

hi

i've brought lots of teddies and they always end up the same ripped to pieces within hours the only one that lasted for longer was one i brought from toys r us it was made a lot better than the ones from the pet shops, i brought a good toy today it is made  by nylabone and it is called a teether its very large keys on a ring (like you buy for babies but a lot bigger) they are made of flexible plastic and louis loves them she has'nt left them alone since i brought them in, they rattle together and are bacon flavoured, mind you i have had to do a bit of ducking and diving as she likes to chuck them in the air! i brought them from our local pet shop.

regards

Has anyone ever washed a squeaky toy and if so did the squeak survive? Spice loves her bone-shape squeakie, from Pets at Home, but it's getting a bit 'manky',so was wondering if it would go through a wash?? ;)

Toys here go into the washer regularly, including squeekies and ones with voice boxes.  Only problem so far is Juniors Red plulsh heart which says "I love you" in a very New York voice :).  It is onlyl meant to talk when squeezed, but know it just dcoes it off its own bat any time, a little unnerving occasionally!

I only give squeakies to my pups now and take them away when they start to mature (sad I know). This is only because my bitch Krishna wanted to show off her new 'squeakie' to a friend of mine. The new 'squeakie' was her new born pup. She bit through the tail damaging the spine. That's why Chloe only has half a tail now. It had to be amputated.  :(

I know this was a one off, but better safe than sorry.

This brings up something I've been wondering about.  Is it harder to teach a pup bite inhibition if the pup has access to squeaky toys??    Personally I've always avoided them for this reason (I also can't stand the squeak ;) ) and I found my Bedly was very quick to learn that people are fragile :D

Maybe its worth dicussing in another area?

Dill ~ full of curiosity :D

This is one of the reasons why I don't give my dogs squeaky toys, Dill (apart from it being a truly horrible noise!). I have guinea-pigs which squeak and whistle, and I don't want the dogs thinking that the squeak means chew-time. :(
