Hi, I have a 2 yr. old shitzu who I want to breed. I have always breed labs with no problem, however I can't seem to get a male that's interested in her. This is the second try. They smell her but don't do anything.  I  breed between the 11th and 13th day of heat. Are shitzus different?

All bitches are different, breed doesn't make any difference. My bitch was successfully mated on her 20th day - the dog didn't show any interest until then, so it sounds as though your girl just wasn't ready.

All bitches are different, so are ready really early and others later on. I dont have your breed, so cant advise on them. But all breeds are normally the same coming to stud and whelping problems.
Make sure if its her first time that she goes to an experienced stud. Not just a stud that has had one litter make sure he likes his job ha ha...Then if he is not interested it means she is not ready or gone over. Try again in a couple of days and again after that. Hope its not too far for you to travel. Or get a blood test done to see if she has ovulated. Of course I have heard that some dogs just dont like some bitches.
