I have been given 10 hens by my friend who has moved away to a house with no land to keep them. the problem is i dont like eggs! i dont know what to do with them all as it seems such a waste to throw them away. i was thinking of advertising them and selling the eggs to the public, but am i allowed to do this on a regular basis? do i have to meet food standards or are there any laws on this sort of thing? please help before i get over run with eggs. seriously!
I have no personal experience of hens, eggs etc. However when we go down to Cornwall, we stop outside a house where they sell eggs, they're on a bench at the end of their drive, in a covered container, you usually have to bring your own egg box, and you just put the money in the 'Honesty Box'.
Hopefully someone will be along who knows the legal ramifications of this.

Do you have children that are at school, perhaps parents at school would like to buy some form you. I know i would, you can't beat farm eggs.
Do you bake you could make lots of cakes and freeze for when you want them.

Tesco amd M & S sell lovely ones :D :D
Seriously though, most people prefer farm fresh/free range eggs, espescialy if it's your neighbours hens who've laid them :)

Is there a rescue centre somewhere near you that might be willing to take the eggs as ongoing treats for the dogs? That way you'd be saving the eggs from being wasted, and the rescue dogs would enjoy them :D Plus you wouldn't have to worry about any legalities of selling them to the public :)

We live in East Anglia and just about every farm or people with large gardens have just about anything you can thing off at the top of the drive to sell eggs, flowers veg must have been doing it for all of the 7 years I have been down here and never see anyone in the local court reports getting into trouble for selling from the driveway
