You can cook liver any way you like :D
You may feed omega 3s to your puppy, the best way is be adding Fish Body Oil (not cod liver oil) by giving him a capsule or piercing it over his food. You cannot really OD on FBO. Dog foods will be deficient in Omega 3s.
Vitamin C can be synthesised in the dog's body but not all dogs produce enough for their needs and the requirement increases during growth and stress etc. Some people recommend the addition of Vitamin C to help prevent HD. Vit C can be fed a number of ways to bowel tolerance, excess Vitamin C is excreted through urine and may cause diarrhoea. I would advise using a tablet with no sugar, yeast, soya, maize etc easily available from the supermarket, chemists or Holland and Barrett.

Hiya
I use cooked liver for training treats for Dylan. We were told to stick it on a tray & cook it in the oven for 3 hours at a low setting, I think its about 100 in our fan oven. A useful tip is to go out the house while its cooking because the smell is disgusting lol

I slice the liver and drop it into a pan of boiling water to which I add sliced garlic cloves. Let it simmer for about 15mins. Doesn't smell too bad and remains quite tender.

Is there a reason why you wouldn't use cod liver oil? I was told (probably wrongly) that its ok to give this to dogs for their coats etc and my pup has been getting it mixed in with her food for a few months with no visible ill-effects. Can you let me know if I should stop this. All advice gratefully received.

ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff :D
If you want to use liver for a training treat it sometimes works better to cook it into a 'cake'. It cubes easily and isn't too rich.
I use 500g ox or pigs liver cut into chunks and blitzed in a blender until pink and runny. The add 1 egg, 6 tablespoons of milk and 6 tablespoons of plain flour and blitz again until mixed well. Pour liquid into a greased square cake tin and bake for about 12 minutes on 160 C. As soon as its cool cut into 1 cm cubes.
Most dogs love it and will do ANYTHING for liver cake, so happy training!
