I think dogs and bitches both have their own little individual quirks which probably isnt just because of their gender but due to the individual animal itself :)
I have always had dogs - dont know why really .

Personally, I think girl dogs are called bitches for a reason! In my experience, they're not as affectionate and definitely have moody moments. Unless I were to one day start breeding and showing competitively, I don't think I would ever get a girl. I've had girls in the past, and right now I have 4 male dogs and one male cat, and it's like that for a reason!

Having spent years dog watching one thing I can tell you. Time and again women come into the dog club with a dog and it is the men that come in with the bitches!

I put it down to opposites attract.
On the other hand I kept dogs for years until one day I had my first bitch. The first of many! I have never had a dog since! There is no doubt in my mind that their mental makeup is totally different!
Best wishes, John

For 26 years I had only bitches. Now I have two dogs as well. Although I love them, they will be the last. It'll be back to bitches again - they're
much easier! And my husband agrees whole-heartedly!

I have 3 dogs and 2 bitches and well I too prefer the dogs over the bitches :D
I noticed that too in dog class the women came in with males and men came in with females...Like when I met my hubby he had a female and I had a male :D

in general male dogs are more loving towards the female owner in a partnership owning. And a female is more affectionate with the male owner rather than her female owner. Maybe we are infact not their owners in their eyes maybe we are their PARTNERS :) :)

Got a bitch had three bitches following each other; had one dog and he was so good so perfect in every way I have not had another thinking no other dog could fit into his "shoes" although I'd love a dog for some reason I have bitches and I think from memory they are easier. Or maybe I believe they are :)

Ive found dogs are overwhelmingly affectionate. My mums dog Sam will not leave my side at the moment. As for Mr B my goodness I could overdose on the affection he lavishes on me. (can't wait to get him out of kennels tommorow even though he has found a girlfriend). Male dogs all they way.

Bitches all the way for me. Husband always had dogs, i had always had bitches. When we got together we got the "boys" (i gave in), then i got Lollie, we now have her daughter and now my husband has finally said he now prefers the bitches. I do like the boys but i do find the bitches easier and i my case more bidable.
Karen.

i always have had bitches & mares, found i had a really good "one to one" thing going on. but last year decided id go for a boy! hes lovely & would go for another dog anytime.hes alittle more forgiving than the girls if i make a mistake,

I have one of each and find them much like my children (I have one of each of them too :) ) - they complement each other perfectly. My dog is very up front, hyper and loving. The bitch is more serene, has her sulks, but is very cute and loving too :D

Jackie -Me too!!

All my girls are totally affectionate, but there again that does seem to be a breed characteristic!! I've never had a male before Anton and after having him I'm sure that I'd have another, though there again he hasn't been used at stud yet and he already has a queue of girls waiting for him so things could change. I just hope that nothing changes in him because he's absolutely wonderful.
There's only one thing that I hate about males though and that's that they are always licking themselves, just like men, he seems to need to make sure that it's there all the time :d The girls only do this when it's their season!!!

hi
my last dog was a male and he was very loving and well behaved and slept alot, the down side was he liked a good fight when out on our walks, he was'nt good at all at accepting other dogs around us, he was a boxerxdoberman, my new dog is a bitch very hyper loves all dogs and all people, she's a boxer so i think they both can be loving but would probaly have to say my bitch is a bit more loving than what my dog was, but she's defo harder work and on the go all the time!
regards

I personally prefer bitches. Having 3 gsd bitches and a lurcher bitch I find that they are lot more willing to please and are very, very affectionate. Suppose it just depends on what you prefer but I will always have bitches- saying that I would never out rule a dog.
Amy
We got a dog as the 2 other males in the house felt out numbered. :D Next one will be a bitch, who will no doubt have total control of Morse from day 1.
