Hi all,
Been a while since I posted - I really must give some advice instead of asking for it all the time!
My saluki Dill has just had a small cancerous tumour removed from his ear - it turned out to be squamous cell carcinoma, but luckily was caught early enough to put us completely in the clear for now. However, the vet has recommended periodic MRIs and CTs to ensure that it doesn't return - does anyone have any experience of this, what it involves, is it bad for the dog in itself, etc?
Also, having done a bit of research on the net, I found two pieces of information related to SCC and feeding - one is that too much protein can be a cause, and another that a supplement called Agaricus is supposed to help prevent such cancer. Again, does anyone have any information or experience of this? I currently feed Nutro large breed adult, but am considering moving to lamb and rice for a bit less protein and adding this Agaricus supplement.
Would be really grateful to hear any opinions and comments on all of this,
Thanks
Phil and Dill
