How do you know it is ear mites?

Hi I use Thornit ear powder which you can put in a search engine and buy off the internet, it is marvellous!
Ear mites usually make the ear have a dark reddish, waxy stuff. :)

Has a vet diagnosed this?  If they have they'll sell you the best stuff to treat it.  Please don't have an aversion to going to the vet and buying their prescribed drugs.  If you diagnose things yourself or from friends, wouldn't it be like buying drugs to treat yourself from a street corner?  I personally think over the counter stuff doesn't work, on me or my pets.  Just my opinion though.

Hi I agree with that to a point, but I had spent so much at the vet to clear an ear problem without success, then I tried the Thornit and the problem has completely gone. There is nothing harmful in it so it is worth a try, all my friends use it with the same results, it keeps the ears sparkling :) I'm sure some more recommendations will come along soon, if not use the search, on champdogs to get some more users opinions. It seems to clear up even the nastiest infections!

Reading back my post mollygog I think perhaps an alternative treatment is of course worth a try if you've tried the vet's stuff.  I've just wasted a lot of money buying stuff off supermarket shelves and when I've gone to the vets all has been cured.  Saying that though, a friend of mine swears by homeopathic remedies for animals and humans (costs more than the vets though!).  Maybe I was being too opinionistic.  I always rush to the vet but that's not for everyone.  If something works then of course its worth trying :0)

Have to agree with Mollygog (no relation)!!! .  Thornit is really good stuff.  Have used it for years now and wouldnt change to anything else.  It keeps the ears smelling nice and clean too.
