Having read lots of complimentary stuff about Burns food, I have ordered some for my 16 week lab from the website - fantastic service by the way! I was feeding Hector about 500g a day (4 meals) of Beta but eh Burns quantities sound much lower (and only cover pups up to 10kg) - does anyone know, is there a reason for this or should I feed him the same amounts as for Beta?

Quantities of food recommended by differing manufacturers will vary because of the content. Whilst you may need to give your dog 400gms of Product A per day you may only need to give 200 gms of Product B; it depends on the calorific density of the food.
My 18 week old Gordon Setter has been on Burns now totally for about 2 weeks, having taken two weeks to change him over from Pro Plan, yes, the quantities are alot less as there is less "fillers" in it, ie wheat and soya etc - it is a much more wholesome food so you therefore need to feed alot less. I contacted Burns re quantities to feed, and as you dog is similar adult weight to mine I would suggest you feed by the same rule-of-thumb as me - 20g per kg of body weight per day - Murphy currently weighs 18kg so is on 360g over 3 meals, compared to 175g PER MEAL on Pro Plan!!! he is doing really well on Burns, his coat is glossier, he is more settled, and one definate bonus side effect is loads less poo!!!! Do not give him same amount as you did Beta, he will have terrible runs!!

I have my 4 month old pup on the Burns adult and he is doing very well.
What dog have you got Jackie?? The Burns nutritionists told me to keep my boy on the puppy mini bites till at least 6 months old, adding some Canine Extra if he needs it.

Have Elkhounds and found the mini bites too small, e-mailed and they said put him on adult, so I did. It is usual for me to take my pups off puppy at about 4 or 5 months because I don't like the high protein level in most puppy foods, this does not apply to Burns, but it meant I was not worried putting him onto adult.

I'm planning on changing over to Burns, can it be given dry or is it best to soak it first.

Yes I was Michelle, it will be fine fed dry to all your dogs, but you can moisten if you wish. If I have a dog that is over keen on food I add warm water as it stops them choaking themselves, but those who chew have it dry.
I've always fed it dry, but you can soak if you really want to!
This is really helpful Debs435, thanks! :-) I was just about to email Burns when your reply popped up. Hector is exactly 18kg, so I'm off to implement my personalised diet plan now. And less poo would be a big bonus...
