i'm upset... lily destroyed and consumed an entire 10ml bottle of metacam last night - 97 daily doses worth.
I called the vet in a huge tearful panic (at 1am) and had to go in to the vets this morning
she's on some antacid treatments to help prevent stomach ulcers but she has to go in on friday for a bloodtest to see if she's damaged her kidneys.
i'm so scared... :(

I've got my fingers crossed for you - do let us know how she gets on.
Margot
fingers, toes and everything crossed for you,
Heidi

Fingers crossed for her.
i had to go back to the vets about an hour ago so that they could put her on a drip to try and speed the drug through her as quick as possible. I'm not sure how they'll keep her still though, luckily she's still really lively.. i have to wait a few hours to collect her :(
they're keeping her in for 24 hours now...

i really hope she'll be okay

I've got my fingers crossed for you both as well Lily.
I have a 100ml bottle of Metacam in the house as Ragga is Mastiff and has it for her OCD & Arthritis.
I didn't realise it was so dangerous. How should I store it, in fridge, in cupboard??
If any of mine got the bottle I have no doubt they would drink it as Ragga seems to think it tastes nice.
I'm going to put this bottle in the fridge in the shed because Vinnie opens the fridge in the kitchen.
I hope your little girl is okay. I once had a white boxer who took 12 800grm 'Brufen Retard' tablets. It took 7 days before the vet told us she was going to live. I never want to put myself through that again.

I treat all medicines, whether dog or human varieties the same way, keep them in a safe place away from little fingers or paws :)
Any news on Lily today ?
Lucy
finally got her home and her blood and urine tests were all normal !!!! she still needs meds to help prevent a stomach ulcer but everything looks good now :)
thanks for everyone's good wishes, i can relax now ! :D

Glad to hear things seem to be ok, horrible for you, what a shock. One of my sisters Newfies ate a box of a 100 Valium, they had to walk her round for 24 hours to stop her going to sleep. She recovered and made a good age.
