my pup is 10 weeks old , she is a westie, how often can they be bathed ? when she eats her food her little beard goes a brownie colour, i want to keep her white but only bath at proper intervals... any help ????
Ask your breeder what they do. I am sure they can tell you or ask a dog groomer for their help. Good luck.

My westie loves the mud so he needs bathed a lot. Got him groomed and his hair is quite short a lot easier to keep clean. Can anyone recommend a good shampoo at the moment I use baby shampoo wondering if there is anything for to keep it really white (at least one day anyway) plus his beard is really hard to get stains out of.

If your Westie has been bred with a correct course coat, then it would be better for both you and the dog to have it hand stripped and chalked, and not bathed at all. The coat will then stay course, and any dirt collected will brush out easily. If your pup has a soft coat, then it may eventually have to be clipped and bathed, but I don't clip (I would use a combination of stripping and thinning scissors as necessary) any pup before it's first birthday, without trying to get the best possible coat through first.
Did you notice if the Dam had a soft or course coat?
I have seen a big improvement in staining (mouth, feet and under tail) by changing diet away from rich processed food. What do you food?

My westie has wirey hair/soft hair he is 1 year old in march. He has been clipped 3 times his parents had wirey hair aswell. His hair is so wirey when it grows it stands up the way it looks like he has a hump. changed his food to nature diet his coat actually has a shine to it. I asked about hand stripping but was told you can't after having them clipped don't know anyone in edinburgh area that does this anyway. The dirt does brush out but doesn't leave him looking too white (more grey) also gets a bit smelly saw spray for dogs but too frightened incase they give him bad skin.

Why don't you have a go at handstripping him yourself ?it easy once you get the technique & you can do a bit at a time then when he is stripped out just remove the dead hair
