I've just got back from the most bizarre experience I have had in ages. A friend bought me a ticket to go with her to "see" Sing-along-a-sound of music! It wasn't really my thing and I was reluctant to go really but it was such a weird experience. At least half of the theatre was dressed as nuns, and several others as brown paper packages tied up with string. They showed the film and we booed at the Baroness, cheered at Maria, aahed at Gretel, sang our hearts out to the words on the screen and it was a very very strange experience!
Has anyone else been?

Yep, I went last year. I sat next to a nun with a black beard - it was a man!!
Like you I was invited and didn't really want to go, but I must say I haven't laughed so much for ages!!
:D I didn't dress up as I didn't know until the last minute, but would still say go if you get the chance. You won't believe what adults do for fun!!! :p
I enjoyed it so much I went to see Singalong Joseph and his Amazing Dreamcoat - but must say it wasn't as good as Sound of Music.
we`re going to see sing a long joseph on march 13th so I hope its good we`re going to be disapointed if not.
What do we wear ? Does everyone get dressed up?

They seem to have a 'fancy dress' competition before it starts. Everyone in costume went up on stage, nuns first, groups second then individuals, the best ones were made to stay on stage and we voted by cheering. They were then given small prizes, and I mean small. People in dress had showed lots of imagination and came as things like 'silver white winters that turn into spring', mittens (two girls in gloves made from blankets joined together with the compulsory 'string'). I would guess that at least a third of the audience were in costume (about half of those being nuns). You get a goodie bag on your seat with props in. Cards to flash for 'how do you solve a problem like Maria?', Eidleweiss, party poppers for the first kiss, and a square of fabric you have to shake whilst shouting 'it's behind you' when Maria asks the Captain for curtain material to make clothes!
It's a totally bizarre experience and did get very rowdy at times - the things people do for entertainment!
With the sound of music they showed the film but how do they do Joseph? Is there a film?

Yes, there is a film of Joseph, staring Donny Osmond, I think

When I went, probably 3/4 of the people were dressed up, but it doesn't spoil your enjoyment if you don't want to! So long as you've got a smile on your face, you'll have a good time!!

If you think that was strange you should go to the Rocky Horror Picture Show!!!

I've always wanted to go and see that, but don't have the legs for fishnets!
I remember seeing 'Return to the Forbidden Planet' some years ago where everyone had taken old hairdryers sprayed silver. That was another one where the audience dressed up.
Can anyone think of anymore where the audience makes an effort?

Oh I was desperate to go to that one Jesse, but due to having a leg in plaster was unable. Was it good?
I love RH - hence our dog's name of Roxy (well, she is a girl, if she was a boy she'd have been Rocky!). :D
