hi, i dont really know much about licencing etc but (i think )unless you own around 6 or more brood bitches then you dont need a licence, if you are a hobby breeder and intend on breeding just one or two litters per year then you should be ok.i remember at crufts last year they had lots of promotions and freebies for breeders but i didnt qualify as i only own 2 bitches, of course you still need to declare your earnings to the tax man tho!.......... im sure someone in the know will come and set us both straight soon!

Hi,  A breeders licence is usually not required unless you breed more than 4 litters in any one year.  However, in exceptional circumstances, in the Local Authority consider you to be running a Dog breeding business but breed less than 4, they can still require you to be licensed.  However, if this is to be you first litter I dont think you need worry.
bye

Hi Toffee Girlie

Before you allow your dogs to be used for stud, do a SEARCH on Champdogs about Stud dogs, the responsibilities (moral and legal) of the owners, etc.

You have said you don't want to get into trouble or cause upset to your dogs:  you should be aware that once a dog HAS been used at stud, he may change:   could you cope?    You would have a joint responsibility with the owner of the bitch with regard to any health problems that may arise in any litter - were you aware of that?

Get hold of a copy of the BOOK OF THE BITCH - it might help get things into perspective!

Good luck

Bit confused here! Not unusual for me! But on another post this member is asking for a stud dog so I guess she has Bitches, or may be she has both?
