Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / Should I be worried ?

Just took the dogs out. Both dogs found something on the grass that obviously tasted nice - something white - looked like a bit of paint. We walked on and met a man we know with an older, Irish Setter. As we walked back towards this white stuff, Tara ran off and started licking it again. I walked over to put her lead on. As I got to her the man and his dog were next to me and Tara went for the setter  The whole thing lasted about 2-3 seconds and the setter was uninjured - he didn't yelp etc and Tara ran away when I shouted at her :( Now, Tara has always been 100% with other dogs and has only had the odd go at Bramble (about 3 or 4 times ever - usually over food). Fortunately, the man was very understanding and assured me that his dog wasn't hurt - she had gone for his neck.

Now- should I be worried about this or do you think that it is just one of those things ? Advice please :)

I would say you need to do a little work to stop her food aggression. If you do a search this problem has been addressed many times and much good advice given.
Don't worry it doesn't sound too serious and shouldn't be too hard to sort out
Good luck,Archer

Thanks. She hasn't really had much of a problem with food aggression really - just a few scraps over whose bone is whose :) And the last of those was about 5 months ago. The dogs get fed together and we have never had any scraps over that or any other treats. That's why I was very surprised and upset about this :( Although we have had a few problems with her and humans - never other dogs :(

Will try to sort it out.

Thanks for the reply

it sounds as if she became possessive over the 'white stuff'.If she is otherwise ok with dogs I would just be very carefiul to keep her away from food with other dogs present(except your own since she is ok with them).
sorry can't be much help
