Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / missed tie

My dog had a missed tie or slip mating. I was wondering what some of your oppinions were, should I go ahead and wait a day in between or try again the day after for a tie? I used this studd before and they had no trouble except he's a bit shorter than her so we had to help a bit, but this time they didn't waste any time and we didn't get ahold of him to boost him up in time . Any suggestions appriciated, missy

If she'll still stand after 48 hours, I'd say go for it again. If she won't, don't. Good luck.

I agree with Jean, if she is happy to go again, have another try.  Slip matings don't always = no puppies though, so you might be lucky!!

I have a friend who said with her many years of breed, slip matings have been proved to be very successful.  Tho if the stud dog owner is willing to give it anouther go and your bitch will be ok with it then maybe for the peace of mind give it anouther go.  Normally people will do two matings just to make sure.

In my limited breeding experiance we have had two slip matings with our stud and on both occasions no puppies were produced all  `normal ` matings produced healthy sized litters. so i would try and mate her again if she is still standing for the dog.:)
