Topic Dog Boards / Health / getting hipscoring results

I was talking to someone recently who had a 1 year old lab who she reckons shes had hipscored and had the results back already, even given the fact he was only 1 last week!!!she reckons she got the results straight from the vets and they didn't need to be sent off.I suspect she is getting mixed up as i've had to have my dogs hip plates sent off to tne bva for scoring, or is there a different way of going about it that i am not aware of?any help appreciated!!

There is no other way.

Sounds like her vet has just given his or her opinion. It is inconcievable that she could have had the plates done, sent off, checked and returned all in that short time. The timescale is just too short for it to be an official BCA/KC scoring.

Regards, John

She must be confused as to the procedure. Ask her what the score was - what the actual numbers were.

Could be that the vet took less than satisfactory plates and then did a second set, and gave the duff set to the owner saying they look OK to me or some such.

I used to go to a vet in Evesham to have the hips x-rayed and he used to use a system the same as the BVA and could give you a most acurate score, but we always then sent the plate off to be scored officially.
