We have been on holiday to Cornwall and Devon for the past couple of times with our dog. We now have 2 dogs and we want to go on holiday again this year with them. We go at peak season and we found Devon and Cornwall to be fairly dog friendly places but the dogs weren't allowed on alot of the beaches. However alot of the attractions attracted dog owners which i thought was really good. This year we want a change but i'm wondering where everyone else thinks the most dog friendly places are. Bearing in mind places we can visit with the dogs etc.

I know you are not looking to go to Devon again but in case anyone is I found this website useful last year when we went :

I wish other counties had one like it !

Narrow boat holidays are fantastic with dogs :) Although can be a lot of hard work if there are only two humans :D

Have a look at the back pages of the Dog monthly mags and the book Pets welcome. some of Blakes holiday cottages also allow dogs, When we are down there we sometimes boarded the dogs at Rajerrah Kennels just outside of Newquay on day boarding so we could visit places that did not allow dogs, and it gave them shade from the heat when we where out they charged £7 a day

Hi posted a reply to this before, but it seems to have vanished, so apologies if it appears twice.  When at Border Unior Show last year (Kelso) was handed a leaflet promoting the Scottish borders as a dog friendly destination, lots of hotels etc listed which welcomed dogs, as well as attractions open to them, and useful info like Vets etc.  Friends of mine have enjoyed weekends up there so much with their 2 Am. cockers over the last few years that they have now bought a static caravan in Kelso so they can holiday up there as much as possible!  If you are looking for cottages to rent there are loads in all the brochures, or you could try contacting the Tourist bureau, which produced the brochure I saw.

Thanks for your replies. The day boarding at kennels ia a really good idea as there was a couple of things i didn't go to last time because we had the dog and your right if the weather is too hot it gives them a break.

Becky,
I know it's not far from you, but personally I find Scotland to be the most doggy-friendly place in the country.
Have you tried looking at Hoseseasons parks and lodges?  They have quite a lot of doggy friendly accommodation.  One of my friends stayed in one and they had a kennels attached to it so you could leave your dogs for a day if you wanted to go out without them.
