Thanks Sally.
the puppy is doing well isn't she? I'm a tad annoyed as i go to the agility club at 7pm on a tuesday, but i had the chance to go to the earlier one. If i had i could've been on tv!!! I missed my chance of fame, although its probably just as well as megan would have shown me up, as usual!!!

Yes the pup looked very well. I did wonder if you were there Lucy as soon as I recognised CHATS venue. What a shame you missed your chance at fame.
After the last programme gave the impression that this place was just a one off I am glad that they have now rectified that by indicating that it is a widespread problem. They have asked for information on any other establishments so lets hope that they gets lots of calls about puppy farms. Earlier today I also heard some good news that another of these establishments has apparently been closed down. I do so hope it is true. A local vet apparently called in the authorities after seeing several pups from there. He saved a 5 week old pup that the new owner had been told was 8 weeks but 2 others died.

I saw the programme and must say I was surprised and more than a little disgusted that the owners vet is to support him in an appeal! The programme interviewed the vet, who said he didn't know anything about the neglect there, and his main complaint was that the local authority had not informed him that the place was getting complaints made against it. I think the vet had a bigger problem with the local authority than with the state of the animals and the way in which they were kept! I really cannot say here what I think of vets who support these establishments.

I have seen the threads on the Blackpool Petshop, and the adverts on the Loot website. Well it seems to me that these places and Keepers Cottage are pretty much the same, the shops probably obtain pups from places like Keepers Cottage. So why don't people now take the opportunity, and report these establishments to Inside Out? Expose the trade in every way it appears, or at least make them think about what they are doing? Of course once it appears to be a popular cause the RSPCA will campaign against it, if only to get more donations.

Polly - how right you are let the others (such as media) do the work and the RSPCA will take the credit and the donations - somethings do not change - mind you they are not the only organisation that operates like this.

I may be getting this wrong. Put me right if I am.
Would it not be better if there was a vet that would support these 'ANIMALS'. The dogs not the owners.
It must be a difficult position to be in. When a 'Puppy Farmer' asks for help.
Do you ignore it because people don't agree. Or do you see to the animal. After all you are meant to be an animal lover by trade.
All I say to vets that treat these animals. If they are not being treated fairly please stand up to your beliefs.
REPORT THE B*****DS.
I would not support a vet that I found out treated these poor animals and did not report the 'OWNER'.

I agree Dawn, it is a difficult position, a bit like the difficult position when people post on these boards wanting help to mate poor quality dogs who haven't been health checked, and then sell their puppies to unsuspecting new families!

It is difficult for vets to work and treat animals known to be owned by a puppy farmer, however if that puppy farmer has his/her licence withdrawn, then that vet should support the authorities. The vet should not work closely with the puppy farmer to get the licence reinstated.

I know nothing about this case but makes me wonder if maybe the Vet would struggle to make next month's payment on his car if he lost this nice little earner???

Just a quick note, in the local paper the Surrey Advertiser last week, the report said that this man will not be getting his license renewed, this is up for renewal in March.....who knows what will happen then.

He is going to appeal but let's keep fingers crossed that he loses.

The licence is fully operational until the end of February. Because it was granted last year to run for one year, which ends the end of February 2004. The Licensing department decided that the Licence would not be renewed for the forthcomming year starting in March 2004 but the Licensee has the right to appeal against the Councils decision, which I understand he is doing.

As I said in an earlier post, not only is he appealing but he is being supported by his own vet, who says he is doing nothing wrong! The vet is working with him to ensure he gets his licence back.
I am appalled at this Polly - how can the vet decide there is nothing wrong?! If this same vet has been supporting him for years it would explain a few things.

I actually wrote to the vet who supported the hellhole where my Hovis came from and asked him why. Needless to say I didn't get a reply. Maybe it's as Val says - about the money. This particular vet pulled 4 healthy teeth from him in the hope that it would stop the stress related salivating. I know there was nothing wrong with the teeth because someone who works for him told me but he thought he'd take them out anyway. The salivating stopped 2 days after we rescued him.

I think the vet has issues with the local authority, by the way he was speaking about it. He claimed if the local authority had received so many complaints then why didn't they contact him?
Did anybody here think about reporting the Loot/Blackpool petshop as well as other puppy farmers to Inside Out?
