Hi - I was wondering if any of the large/giant dog breeders feed NatureDiet to their pups? We've been looking into the risks of OCD etc, and seeing as we're possibly adopting a bullmastiff pup (5 months old) we were wondering what type was best to feed. Ruby (our current dog) is on the adult variety, and I've emailed NatureDiet for advice too, but what we're reading so far is that normal puppy foods can be too high calorie/protein/calcium for large and giant breeds and can put too much weight on them too fast. Does this include NatureDiet's pup food? If so, would that mean feeding the adult variety of NatureDiet? We would prefer new pup to go on ND or similar, but if not possible, suggestions of a good natural alternative (but not BARF) that would be suitable for a giant breed are much appreciated. :D
Thanks
Kathy

Update: Have just received email from NatureDiet recommending that she be put on the adult variety seeing as she's a giant breed, and for it to be introduced slowly mixed in with old food (which we would do with any new food). However, I could use advice on how much a bullmastiff bitch of 5 months of age should weigh roughly, so I can work out feeding quantities :)

Performatrin Ultra is a realy good food If you can get where you are, check out the post that says NUTRO??? I wrote a big thing about it and some ingrediants or look up thier web sight,I know they say to switch them slowley but that is not nessary unless you are switching to a food that may have some harmfull ingredients in it.Its like if you were used to eating spagittie for dinner everynight and one night you decide to have Mc Donalds you wouldnt ween yourself for a week on small bits of a big mac,you might have the runs the next day but you will be over it after 24 hours or so but buy feeding the two diferant foods at the same time confuses the digestive system and will lickley prolong the diarea or just make it worse cause now insted of processing only one type of food its doing two at the same time.

See above post ;) They said at 5 months she'd weigh about 30kgs, but she's nowhere near that apparently *lol*.

Hi,
I take it she is a rescue then? I guess she is a bit thin at the moment then. We have beardies and they weigh between 45 and 55 lbs when adult, 30 kilos is about 60lbs (ish), if she doesn't weigh that, she must be thin!!! :(

If the vets says she`s the correct weight for her height and size then use this as a feeding guide . Most complete foods have a recommended food guide .
Just because a guideline says a bullmastiff should be x weight it doesn`t mean all are . These are guidelines .
