I got a staffie yesterday he is 11 months old, i bought him from a family who had to sell him coz they didnt have time for him.
he is really hyperactive and tends to wrap his whole jaw around my arm its not sore but gets really anoying.
the only thing he seems to know is sit and paw.. it seems the family who previously had him didnt bother they're a*s's with him and i was wondering if it was too late to teach him so he is very obedient and want to know tips on how to do so

It is never too late to learn and at 11 months your dog is still a puppy.  Why not take him to a good training class?  You could do the Kennel club Good Citizens Tests with him, agility, obedience; the world is your lobster :D

I have two staffy's and Jasper was 5 years old when we got him.  He had a habit of when you started playing with him he would start biting and pulling on your sleeves.

We have taught him that when he does this playtime is over and he is sent away to sit in the corner.  It took us 9 months or more to sort this problem out.  So it doesn't matter what age they are they can be retrained it just takes longer for older animals I think.

Good luck with him and I hope you enjoy him for many years to come.

Hi,

In October got a Staffie cross that had been abandoned with the RSPCA because he was to boisterious. Made worse by the fact he was crossed with a greyhound so very tall. When we got him he had food aggression (I have scares), Toy aggresssion, didn't trust humans ad tended to lash out when he felt he was in danger.  Now is only agressive with my other dog over bones, loves cuddles from everyone (except for some reasno is terrified of my sister!) Does sit, down and recall in a fashion. And I haven't even started proper training course yet.  So no it is never to late...Luca is now almost 18 monthes. He just needed his boundaries market. He still chews hands a little.  BUt have found if you make a pained noise when he does it he stops dead. Have found with him and have had this from another staffie owner that if they have been treated badly or not trained react badly to  confrontation...not sure if it's true but was true of Luca. Be firm, be consistent and never lose your temper. Patience is something that get better with pratice trust me.
